What is a good treatment for a bee sting?
Answer:
the first few hours after the sting can cause some severe allergic reactions but since its passed 4 hrs, he's safe.
the area will cool down and the swelling will go away by itself.
He should be past the point of having a severe allergic reaction by now... watch for respiratory distress and wide spread hives... you can also try ice... half hour on half hour off... and make sure you put the ice in a wash cloth to avoid any kind of beginnings of frost bite... baking soda always worked when I was a little kid!
sounds like a mild allergy to bee stings. watch for any oozing or discharge from the bite. sometimes putting ice on it will relieve some pain. try a topical spray for insect bites or calamine lotion. if it is still swollen after 2 days a trip to the dr is in order
Meat tenderizer works very well.
Be sure you have gotten the stinger out completely.
for the pain I was told to rub an aspirin on a bee sting. Supposedly works as a local?? I dunno. I was also told to rub mud on a sting and have used that before, i think that idea is as the mud dries it draws out the stinger?
If it was yesterday and the sting site is still that swollen, red and especially if it is hot to the touch it is probably infected.
I would take him to the doctor.
In the future, if he gets stung by a bee after you remove the stinger put mud on it. I know it sounds gross, but I grew up in an area with a LOT of bees and got stung several times every summer. I have tried over the counter medicines that are for sting relief, baking soda mixtures, tea bags and mud. The mud was the only one that worked. It works almost instantly, no more pain in just a couple minutes. Just make sure its dirt that hasn't recently been fertilized.
You have done everything right that can be done by Mom at home. Now it's time to take him to the doctor.
