Knee problem?

My mom fell on her knee twice and she said it feels like it's on fire it's starting to swell, and she said once it was numbed right below the knee cap. Her doctor does want her to have a knee replacement and she just can't afford to miss any days of work or even the hospital bill. The last hospital bill her insurance wouldn't pay for it. Any ideas?

Answer:
Is her doctor an orthopedist? she can apply ice for the swelling and try ibuprofen or aleve if she doe not have any stomach problems. If she needs a knee replacement she needs a knee replacement. Her job should offer temporary disability payments. Have the surgery pre approved through her insurance they should not have any reason to not pay for it.
Yeap, she needs to put an ice pack on her knees to ease the swelling and pain. My knees crack really bad when I bend down and get back up. I went to the doctor back in Jan. and they gave me some Motrin, bcuz it helps take away the imflammorty in the points
RICE... rest, ice it, rotated by warm compresses, and elevation. Plus something like aleve or Ibuprofen will help with the pain
