Does walking on your tippy toes cause health concerns?

I am 22 years old and I have walked on my tippy toes since I learned how to walk. I try to walk flat footed, it doesn't really bother me, but just wondering. I always end up right back up on them. Will I develop any health problems? If I don't already.

Answer:
Actually you probably walk on your tippy toes because of a problem. My niece did this and was sent to therapy to learn to walk normally. My sister was told she did this because my niece had gone without oxygen for a couple minutes during labor and delivery. Walking on your toes can strain you back, legs and hips.
The best place to find out is to ask your podiatrist and/or your family doctor. However, I *have* heard that wearing high heels is essentially the same thing, and *does* cause *some* back and leg problems!
yes. i dont know exactly wat it is..but when i was little, i did the same thing. my mom said not to do that because it does something to your tendons...then you will start doing involintarly like you are doing. idk how to help it to stop tho. sorry
I walked on my tippy toes when I was a kid, I don't know when I stopped and now my grandson does the same thing. I always thought I was the only one who did this.

It doesn't hurt you...you probably have great calves, but I would think that the ligament in the calf would be shortened because of this.

Maybe do some sort of stretching exercise to lengthen that calf muscle.
