Hernated disk?????
Answer:
Many people can be symptom free within 6-8 visits. However, it will also depend on the point and position of the herniation, whether your fiance smokes, uses caffiene, is overwieght, or has to sit profoundly at his job (all things that can increase your salutary time). Yet, once symptom free, one must remember that treatment of a herniated disc requires life long running to prevent it from returning again....namely using good body mechanics and posture...and probably 1 or 2 exercises that will stipulation to be maintained a few times a morning.
There is great disparity among therapists as to the best agency to treat someone who has have a herniated disc...research is still vague as to which treatment approach is the best, but those practicing the powered diagnosis and treatment appraoch (aka McKenzie method) probably have the most research beneath their belt to back their assessment, reliability, rightfulness and treatments. I suggest that if he does not do well surrounded by PT, that he find a PT that uses this method.
I would suggest a Chiropractor. PT usually agravates the herniated area. I see my Chiro monthly and other feel great!
Good luck, I grain your pain.
He is doing the correct piece. I've had impossible to tell apart problem for 30 years.
I found that jeans were my worse rival. No heavy lifting, and well thought-out sex, will keep it from person aggravated.
It took 30 years for my disks to fuse together. Medicine has come a long channel, but make sure your doctor know what he is doing.
Sounds like a disc, but near may be other causes of leg (sciatica type) throbbing. I'm sure the PT did some neurological tests such as reflex, muscle strength, and something called a 'straight leg raise'. You cannot see a disc bulge/herniation on a plain x-ray; CT or MRI are the most definitive. Unfortunately, surrounded by my experience, this condition will take an average of 2-3 months to fully recuperate with conservative treatment (chiro/physio). If someone tell you they had a similar point that went after 1-2 go at the physio/chiro, they probably didn't have a true disc herniation. Often 'disc bulge' is a diagnosis given to patients when the truth is something different/more complicated, because the practitioner doesn't want to spend time explaining the exact create (or, they don't know!). Surgical excision of the disc fragment is an option but PLEASE try the simple stuff first. Studies show that while surgery may develop symptoms quicker, over time the result is the same, and surgery have greater risks involved (in general).
Come again blondie, but thanks for the two points
In mention to an earlier answer, chiropractor guardianship can help next to most cases of a herniated disc. However, physical therapy will not aggravate it. Chiropractic vigilance used in attachment with physical psychiatric help may be a good risk.
As far as how long it takes to rest depends on the case. The best destiny of recovery take a patient who is helpful in their thought. Doing the at home exercises, following the doctor's recommendations, etc.
