Try crushing regular pain relievers with two spoons, and swallowing the powder with a spoonful of Karo, or something thick and sweet.
We did this all the time as children, mom got a clean, big tablespoon, placed the tablet into it, and used the outside rounded bottom of a clean, smaller teaspoon to crush the tablet to powder. Then, without wiping the spoons as the powder is medicine, pour light Karo syrup over the powder and insert in child's mouth. There is some powder stuck to the spoon, which she carefully loosened with the other spoon. Another spoonful of the light Karo syrup, and yum, the medicine is down, and the stomach coated.
If the tablets are small enough, you can crush both at once. Don't risk spilling the medicine over onto the counter, so if it's two tablets you need to crush, adjust the amount of Karo you want to swallow. Don't swallow big gulps of Karo if you need a teaspoon per swallow, as it is very sweet and filling.
