Asthma questions?
Answer:
Typically for that type of activity you need a physical. Tell the doctor then whats going on. You can also see the school nurse or clinic and they can refer you to your doctor or another. Explain to your mom that you have to see he doctor to continue participating in these activities.
If you're old enough for ROTC, you're old enough to take yourself to the emergency room. Stop a half mile from the hospital, and run the rest of the way, so that you have symptoms when you arrive.
Your mom shouldn't do that. Try to explain to her that you're serious about not being able to breath because that's a serious thing. Good luck.
Same thing happened to me...I found out I had exercise induced asthma when I was 5. And it did feel like a sumo wrestler was sitting on my chest...I now have worse asthma, (many new triggers...dramatic change in temperature outside, strong odors, running, crying, etc..). But you need to convince your mom that asthma is a serious thing and that it can kill you if you don't get enough air in your lungs. Asthma restricts your breathing so that you don't get as much oxygen in your lungs as you need. Even exercise induced asthma can kill you. And since your in ROTC, I would assume that your in high school at least...So please get your mom to look at these links, it could save your life. Ask her; "Would you rather me be dead one day, or to take me to the doctor to save my life!?" I'm including links or websites you should visit for your asthma. I hope I helped you, and I know how it feels with asthma, so if you can't breathe good, just stop what your doing and take deep breaths (sitting up or standing up, DO NOT lay down during an attack).
ciao for now,
tara =D
