Severe TMJ sufferers... advice?

Please help! I didn't have any symptoms until 1 year ago and now I can't even open my mouth all the way. My teeth hurts, my head hurts and nothing helps. Massage, bit guards, pain killers... I'm a singer and this is affecting my ability to sing well. I've heard surgery can make this worse as well as cause facial malformations. Has anybody tried accupucture? How do you cope? I'm a young mother with 2 children and this is really affecting my life.

I, too, am a singer, and I had TMJ to the point I had to contact my son's orthodontist. BEST move I could have made. He put me in a bite splint that gradually pulled my bite back to where it SHOULD have been. Bad thing was I had to go through braces all over again.
i also suffer form tmj, ive had it since im a kid, it comes and goes, sometimes its much worse than others, i have consulted with my dentist, and have been fitted with a night guard, this helps alot, when its bothering me, i feel when im under alot of stress that is when mine is the worst, keep that in mids, go see your dentist, and good luck
