Do you think having an african grey is bad for my asthma?

i have had an african grey for 4 years now and im wondering exactly how bad he is for my asthma,i love him loads but dont want to end up with chronic asthma or a respiratory disease! what should i do?

Answer:
hi, i have a similar problem except i have gerbils...
what you can do is have allergy tests done, and ask for birds in particular they are really easy to do and they can do them for loads of things as well as birds e.g. dust cats etc this will then tell you if your allergic to your bird .. but i am pretty sure that if you've had him for 4 years no problems then u'll be ok (fingers crossed!!)
there are other things that can affect asthma like dust pollen et c .. so i think these 'skin prick' tests are great!!
GOOD LUCK!!
