Is sleeping 17 hours bad?

I went camping this weekend and got okay sleep. Then on the way home I slept a couple hours came home ate and then slept another 15 hours.

Answer:
If this isn't something normal for you (which it does not sound like it)... then probably not bad... you probably were just worn out.
Sleep is a way helping the body recharge.
wowww, that's a lot of sleeping.
well its not "bad", but it is lazy
as long as you don't make a habit of it.
Generally it's not a good idea to sleep so long but you were probably tired from your trip. You already did the sleeping, so nothing you can do about it now!
I get like that if I lost a lot of sleep over a few days.also when I have PMS or Im getting sick.
Yeah..that's not good. If you continue after all the sleep you have now ..still feel sleepy then, have your blood sugars and thyroid been checked.
that some sleep you're getting...i wish i can sleep that long
It's sleep, it can't be bad...it's all natural unless you use a sleeping pill, so it must be good for you =)
once in a while its ok. i think it would only be an issue if it happened all the time.
one time i slept for 23 hours, but i was up for 5 days.
Anyway no its not bad, as long as you don't do it everyday.
Not bad - just bloody lazy!
Its not healthy to sleep more then 7-8 hrs a day, but sometimes after such an activity, its ok. your body needs it.

Sleeping too much can lead to being lazy and tired.
Sleeping 17 hours isn't bad if your camping trip was a 48 hour party.
yes if you cant wake up or feel dizzy tell the doctor

holee cow thats a lot of answers in a minute 23!
Its not the worst thing you can do, but its not healthy.. try to only sleep 7-8 hours otherwise you will be constantly tired and groggy!
Its bad if your sleeping that much on a daily basis, that could mean something is wrong with you. From depression to something more serious. If your doing that daily go get checked out with a doctor. If its just that one time then your body is most likely your body is making up for sleep.>>>>
I don't think it's necessarily BAD for you, bit it might be difficult to get back on you regular sleep schedule =]
Good luck, this happens to me all the time lol
you must have needed it - but if it happens again on a regular basis i would visit you gp
Your body obviously required extended sleep, however, most normal sleep patterns do not go beyond 8 hours.
Probably fine unless it's something you do all the time. You might just be screwed up a little from the weird sleep pattern. After I got my wisdom teeth out I slept for almost a whole day with a 2 hour break to eat and shower and go to the bathroom. I was fine. You might notice some sore muscles or stiffness but you'll be ok.
Well you prolly needed to sleep a whole lot.
Your body must of been very tired!

It can only get bad if your getting 17h of sleep like daily and stuff, thats just kinda werid and unhealthy,

dont no hun, its not bad, your body needed it.
I can image how tierd you were after the camping trip!
so dont worry about it!!

i think when you sleep for that lond that it meant that you really needed it, your body is just tired.
wow, um... ur ladie days may be coming, thats what i do, if thats not the problem u should talk to ur docter
Probably you did something really tiring and ur body was so exhausted.
That's normal, you need to average 7-8 hours of sleep each night. If you have a light night, you need a heavier one later in the week. Be careful, sleeping long periods like that can hurt your back.
bad? oh no, may be natural.
It is definatly not normal,
If you find yourself sleeping more then 9 hours you should talk to your doctor.
i wish i could sleep 17 hours haha

im always sleepy
If you dont sleep that much all the time I think you are fine just a little over tired. If you were sleeping the day away everyday then I would worry about depression but espescially after the weekend you had I would say overly tired is a good assumption.
