If your irons low, is it a bad idea to drink to alcohol?

i was all dizzy after 1 drink

Answer:
There is no link between iron levels ( which suggest low iron stores) and the ability to take alcohol. Especially when you say you are not anaemic anyway! Stress equally has no effect on iron stores.

There are 3 ways your iron stores can become low.
Poor intake
Failure to absorb iron
Blood loss.
You need to find out which is causing your problem.
Drink guiness its got lots of iron in it.

Its actually a very nice drink and cos its not fizzy its gentle on your stomach.
its never a bad idea to drink alcohol
yes. alcohol thins the blood. when your anemic, your blood is already thin. no one should drink alcohol, let alone those who have blood disorders such as low iron (amemia).

good luck!
It's a bad idea to drink alcohol at any time. Makes ya say & do stupid stuff. And if one drink makes you dizzy...QUIT DRINKING IT!!
It can cauze dizzinss and vomiting so my advice is if you are to have one have a glass, nothing more
If it makes you dizzy then better not to do it. Try taking Ferrous Sulphate tablets.
you should consider Centrum One a Day. I use it because i have low iron
In the 1950's hospitals used to dispense bottled Guinness to patients to enhance peoples' iron.
The occasional glass of Guinness will do you good, lots of Iron. In fact Guinness used to be given in English and irish hospitals to patients who had lost blood or needed iron.
Drinking is not good anyway, when you drink you don't eat properly. If you got dizzy after one drink, it is probably something else, your body is trying to tell you something. Don't ask advice here, go to a doctor.
No as long as you dont drink too much. A glass of Red Wine is good for you as its got iron. The red grapes. lol PS. If you're dizzy drink some water and that'll dilute the alcohol.
try Guinness got iron in it.!!
That just makes you a cheap night out! It's never a bad idea to drink alcohol!!
take iron to compensate before you drink. i'm really anaemic but drinking doesn't affect me because i take my iron regularly and drink seldom.
Of course its bad to drink alcohol when your iron is low. I'm anemic and my doctor told me to stay away from alcohol bcuz it has something to do with entering into your bloodstream. And not only that alcohol can affect your bladder and your liver. You may be saying that you only need one bladder, but you only have one liver. And your liver is what filters your blood. Damage it if you want, you only live once.
get the Ferrous tabs down and leave the alcohol out
I was given Guinness and milk stout in the late 70`s when in hospital after the birth of 2 children.
Also, last Oct when in hospital after open heart surgery and blood transfusion .I was given red wine every day.IT was taken as advised by a Doctor.
IF I were you I would see a doctor,he may prescribe ferrous sulphate
Anemia is defined as low iron!! So, yes, you are anemic if your iron is low.

Basically when your iron is low you have these symptoms anyways. The hemoglobin is the blood cell that has iron and carries the oxygen to the rest of your body. The dizzyness is really from a lack of oxygen to the brain. This is not really that dangerous, in that a lot of ppl are anemic. You feel it when you drink because the alcohol makes you loopy anyways, lowers your bp (low blood pressure can also cause this kind of dizziness. ), and increases the effects of the low iron.

Here is a website that details acute, short term, and long term effects of alcohol:

And a lil on anemia from the mind of wiki:
