Diabetic person after consuming sweet food, takes plenty of water, will it reduces blood sugar level?
Answer:
Drinking lots of fluid will "flush" your blood stream, and therefore it will reduce your sugar level. But it is NOT a solution to eating the wrong foods. It will make only a slight difference in your glucose level. It is better than nothing, but don't even think that it can let you eat whatever you want.
Still, if you have made a mistake, drinking lots of water is one of the things you can do to get back to safe glucose levels. Another is getting some exercise. Going for a fast walk for 20 minutes or half an hour can help a lot.
Wait at least 45 minutes to an hour after eating, then get some significant exercise (a stroll to the end of the block and back is not going to be enough). You need to wait to allow your glucose level to peak, so that the exercise comes on the downslope. If you don't, the body may not recognize that you have a lot of food in you that is about to be digested, and it may ADD to the glucose levels rather than diminish them. Good luck!!
I am type 1 diabetic. The only think that will reduce blood sugar level is insulin.
No.
But EXERCISE will!
Jog around the block or something.
defiantly no.
Add a little ground cinnomon to your food it helps
Water does help but walking etc will help as well.
Only briefly, through dilution. Glucose is an osmotic diuretic. When levels are too high for your ability to produce insulin, glucose is lost thru the renal tubules. The subsequent osmotic effects of this large molecule (glucose) pulls water with it. Thus, the frequent urination experienced by diabetics. Insulin transports glucose into the cell so that it can be used in cellular respiration. Diet or controlling the amounts and kinds of sugars that you ingest is much more important.
No because your body still has to process the food it consumed. Stay away from the sweets as much as you can. I have type 2 myself and I know about playing with fire. Also try webmd.com to research more about Diabetes and foods that are good to eat instead of sweets.
Your body needs the insulin to take sugar into the cells in order to utilize the energy. When your blood sugar gets over 250mg/dl you will start spilling glucose into your urine. This is what causes the frequent urination symptom of diabetes.
Exercise will NOT lower your blood sugar in the abscence of insulin becuase the sugar is never taken into the cell where it can used.
Drinking extra water will help you get rid of extra sugar when your blood sugar is over 250, however taking your insulin correctly and watching your diet are MUCH better ideas.
water does absolutely nothing! you need to go run for a bit if at all physically possible! but do something quick cuz if your sugar gets too high you could go into a diabetic coma!
Yes, and no. You see, it's much more complicated than that.
High sugar intake in a diabetic (Type I and Type 2) will make your body crave water, this is a typical physical reaction. However, 2 litres of water later your blood glucose could still be very high; depending on the total intake of sugar, whether there are any other predisposing factors such as illness, etc.
However, in the Type 2 insulin, your regular medications will see to it that in time your insulin reserves are activated.
Type 1 insulin diabetics would need to see a Doctor, or at least have an action-plan whereby the Doctor has already educated you as to how much insulin to take to reduce the blood sugar.
NO...NO...NO..NO... but you can eat protein and that will help.. also some Cinnamon will lower your blood sugars..
No. ... Elevated blood glucose will increase dehydration, insulin is the only thing that reduces the glucose level. There are oral medications that make some individuals insulin work more effectively.
Not really..what it will do is hydrate you to the point that excess glucose is washed through your kidneys and out in your urine which will make you falsely think you are ok. Your kidney will work overtime to filter the glucose out of your blood and into your urine..it is called glycosuria
I heard that same statement from a nurse, but I think it is easier to watch what you eat. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
There is one instance in which water may reduce blood sugar levels severely:
If you smoke cigarettes and have had diabetes for many years.
Here's what happens in the above case:
Nicotine is a diuretic. (It stimulates the kidneys to flush water out of the body through the urine).
If a diabetic consumes sweet food and then drinks plenty of water (12 ounces every half hour or greater), their blood glucose will drop relatively quickly because they are drinking so much and urinating every 15-20 minutes. And they are also exercising each time they run to the bathroom.
Diuretic + too much water + exercize = large drop (80-150 mg/dl we are talking about) in blood sugar.
This is a dangerous way to get rid of sugar because it damages the kidneys.
It does not happen to diabetics who don't smoke or are not on a diruetic.
