I know all roughly the thyroid. I have Hashimoto's disease, and enjoy been living beside it for 10 years now. My doctor in actual fact asks me about thyroid question he has. It vastly well could be an enlarged thyroid, commonly call goiter. Look at your neck. You know where on earth the little indention is in the middle where on earth your collarbones almost meet? Ok, is yours indented? Or is it puffy? The bottom of your thyroid is approximately right nearby. It extends upward in a butterfly shape. Feel it. Do you be aware of swelling or puffiness extending upward? If the indention is puffy, or you feel puffiness surrounded by the couple inches around that, go to the doctor. Some kinfolk doctors don't know much about the thyroid. So, ask your doctor to run a complete thyroid panel. This will include a TSH, which is the thyroid stimulating hormone, a T3, T4, free T3, and free T4. All of these numbers will come together to draw from a 'picture' of what's going on. Your doctor may also want to do a thyroid reuptake test which will involve you drinking a radioactive cocktail, waiting a nit, next sitting on a special chair beside a scanner for the throat. It's painless, but not all that fun. He may also do a thyroid ultrasound. Depending on the results of adjectives that, you may wind up have a CT to determine the extent of the goiter. I had partially of my thyroid removed 10 years ago, and just have to have a CT to find out if I want surgery to remove the rest of it. My current symptoms are a cough, swelling on one side, and a tickle in my throat. Sound decipherable? Good luck with this! Feel free to donate me to your contacts if you want, that way you can contact me surrounded by the future if you want to. If it turns out you do enjoy thyroid disease, I will be glad to help you revise your way around adjectives the tests and gobbledygook you'll soon become familiar next to. Someone helped me resembling that when I was of late beginning my take a trip.
A swollen thyroid is not the cause of your condition but it could be a sign. If you enjoy bumps on your throat that could be swollen lymph nodes. These are part of your immune system (of which you own a lot of surrounded by your neck) and basically filter out things resembling bacteria and virus in your lymphatic system. Your thyroid gland is in truth an organ that produces a lot of your hormones and is completely unassociated beside a throat infection. The only justification your Thyroid would get swollen is if you have a goiter. It swells because your body is not getting enough iodine--you don't enjoy that problem because the government requires that our saline now be iodized within order to prevent this problem. Pretty cool huh?
