Thyroid nodule, rough?

I have a multinodular thryoid goiter that usually doesn't bother me and i'm not on any meds. Just just this minute I noticed one distinctive nodule is painful and tender to touch. Should I be concerned around this? Can anyone tell me what it might anticipate? Its going to be several weeks before I can see a doc in the order of it. my clinic doesn't take "cancelation standby" requests
