Can you get gastric bypass if your only 50 pounds over weight?
Thanks
Answer:
There is no way that a doctor will perform gastric bypass on someone who is 50 pounds overweight.
Keep in mind that these surgeries are generally for people who are "morbidly" obese.
A person is not considered obese until they are at least 30 pounds overweight. A person who is 50 pounds overweight is probably considered to be "slightly" or "moderately" obese... but nowhere near "morbidly" obese.
No.
i don't know anything about that.
It has always been my understanding that you HAD to be 100 plus pounds overweight. I would not trust a doctor that was willing to do it on someone who is just 50lbs overweight. Try Weight watchers..it is long term but it works.
I don't think your doctor will let you. This surgery is a last resort kind of thing. 50 pounds is something that can be lost easliy.
No, I think you have to be classed as morbidly obese, and be at least 100 pounds overweight. Usually they only do it as well if the person has co-morbid illnesses (illnesses caused by the obesity), such as high blood pressure etc.
No, you have to be clinically obese.
