What is a silent heart attack?

It is a blockage or clot that passes through the heart without causing pain or symptoms. It happens a lot to people who are already in pain a lot and find it difficult to know the difference. They can still cause damage regardless if you feel them or not.

Silent heart attacks can effect diabetics and other people with autonomic neuropathy. Because they have nerve damage, they sometimes don't feel the classic chest pain of a heart attack. They just feel short of breath and have no idea they've just had a heart attack.
A heart attack that the person does not realize has happend (asymptomatic). This usually occurs in diabetics and elderly women.

Usually people find out about the heart attack later during stress tests or other procedures.
