Can a person get herpes all over their body exclude mouth/genital area?

Answer:
Yes this is called shingles.
Not hsv1 or 2 these are the viruses normally referred to as herpes but they cause genital or oral herpes.

Rarely you can get herpes simplex on your body if for example you are a wrestler and you contract the virus through an abrasion on your skin coming into contact with, for example, someone else's oral infection, but it would not appear all over your body, only on the site of infection.

You can also get herpes whitlow, which is when one of the herpes simplex viruses is transmitted to the fingers at the edge of the nail, but again it stays where it is.

If a mother contracts genital herpes in the late stages of pregnancy the baby may contract it on the skin on its body as it passes through the birth canal, in which case it would be all over the body, but this is extremely rare.

As the previous answerer said, chicken pox is also a herpes virus and this appears all over the body. Like herpes, you never get rid of it, it lies dormant in your body and can manifest itself as shingles later in your life. Mononucleosis is also a herpes virus.
I have heard of it, but do not know anyone with it. I hope and pray that this is not a personal issue for you.
