Can liposuction improve your health by lowering your weight?

I am modestly overweight, and like many, have been unable to get rid of the 20+ pounds I would like to through diet and exercise. While liposuction is generally viewed as cosmetic surgery, since it is removing fat, does it have similar health benefits to other forms of fat/weight reduction?

Will liposuction reduce the liklihood of getting heart disease, diabeties, etc.?

Answer:
A study was actually done on this subject a few years back. Medical researchers know that abdominal fat is an indicator of cardiovascular health (the more you have, the more at risk you are for heart attacks, high cholesterol, diabetes, etc). This in mind, they performed liposuction on a group of people with abdominal fat in order to see if it helped their degree of cardiovascular fitness. Unfortunately, they discovered that the belly fat is just an indicator of cardiovascular unhealthiness, but is not a cause -- there was no change in their health. Also, a good number of people die from liposuction because it is easy to accidentally pierce an organ with the tool they use to suction fat out. I recommend going to a doctor and having them check your thyroid and cortisol levels. It's very possible that you are perfectly healthy at your weight, and a doctor can assess this for you. Best of luck! :)
This is only my personal opinion.

If you were to get lipo, and you were able to keep that kind of weight off, it could be viewed as helpful. If you have trouble exercising, maybe it would be easier if you had that little extra weight off your shoulders. Still, diet and exercise are the big factors that contribute to heart disease and diabeties (along with your family history).
Lipo can't remove any fat that may be stored around your heart. It's more or less a quick fix for a big stomach, etc.
no it wont help your health other than allowing you to excercise better. liposuction only removes body fat not cholestrol or fat in the arteries. you can only do this through conventional excercise.

Eat only when hungry and not more than thrice a day. Nothing other than water in between. Include plenty of uncooked vegetables and fruits in each meal, preferably 50%. Chew each morsel at least 32 times to activate ur body to generate signals of hunger/fullness. Obey these signals.

Take light exercises and brisk walks regularly preferably twice a day.

U will achieve what u have not even dreamt and that too in a reasonable time. Do not be in a hurry.
