Is it okay to eat after you work out?

I start going to the gym to lose weight, and when I am done I be hungry, so I grab Subway on my way home...

Answer:
Yeah of course, just make sure to get something healthy so you're not blowing all that time you spent working out on one meal. If you end up going and by the time you get out, it's time for dinner, eat dinner. And subway isn't so bad, there are lots of healthy sandwiches you can eat.
WAIT ATLEAST AN HOUR!
its actually better to eat after you excersize, it helps you to burn calories faster
u should wait a little bit. just make sure not to lie down after u work out or else all the fat will be gained back
they say a light snack is good maybe a banana. try eating an apple before you go for some "fuel" it is natural to get hungry after
subway is very fattening!! despite what they tell you, it is. wait until you get home, and eat a salad or fruit.
if you eat subway after exercising, it defeats the purpose
exercising right after you eat stops the nutrients from being properly absorbed. But eating shortly after you work out I believe is okay.
Actually, it is better to eat a meal about an hour to an hour and a half BEFORE you exercise, as this will raise your metabolism to make you burn calories faster, and also it will give you more energy for your workout so you can do more than you could if you didn't eat first. Also, if you use this method you won't feel hungry again until you're supposed to so that you can maintain a regular eating schedule. I would recommend trying to eat and work out at the same time every day.
I think a light snack after exercise is okay. It is probably the best time to eat because your metabolism is still up. However, I do not think Subway is the best thing to eat as a post workout snack.

I am no expert. But, it would seem that what you eat post-workout might vary depending on what you're trying to achieve. For example, if I am mostly aiming at weight loss (not heavy body building) it would seem pointless to go for something with a high carb content. If you were aiming at body building, something protein rich with amino acids might be more beneficial. I guess either way, something with a high carb content would not be a good idea. Some (not so starchy) fruit and low fat cottage cheese might be good.

It is best to stay away from those snack bars and drinks(supposedly) designed for post-workout unless you're sure the calories and other stuff will not negate your workout.
Wait for strong urge to subside before taking food.

Eat only when hungry and not more than thrice a day. Nothing other than water in between. Include plenty of uncooked vegetables and fruits in each meal, preferably 50%. Chew each morsel at least 32 times to activate ur body to generate signals of hunger/fullness. Obey these signals.

Take light exercises and brisk walks regularly preferably twice a day.

U will achieve what u have not even dreamt and that too in a reasonable time. Do not be in a hurry.
Most doctors agree that physical activity is a good way for you to control weight. Remember that it is your total calorie intake daily that counts. With that being said, lots of people overeat after a workout.

It is best to eat before the actual workout (1 to 2 hours) and make sure the meal or snack is high in protein.

Portion control is mucho importante... Eat less simple carbs, and more protein before workout and you actually feel less hungry after. Complex carbs and fats are also okay but watch your servings. Nuts---(not peanuts, they are legumes) are the perfect food. Nuts, yogurt and fruit can make a excellent snack after a long workout (watch your amounts).
