Personal trainers!?

Okay, is it appropriate for personal trainers to ask their clients to meet up with them outside of the gym? I mean like...dinner...cocktails? My trainer sent me an invite however I don't know how to feel about it...he is my first trainer and was wondering if this sort of thing tends to happen...?

Answer:
It sounds like he might be interested in you. So if you are interested in him, then go if not then don't and make up an excuse. Sometimes you develop a relationship with a trainer because you see them often. I had a trainer 3 years ago and I am still in contact with him He is like a son to me and he helped me lose 50 lbs. My second trainer asked me to go to his birthday party last year and I went. He was only 22 years old but we had a good rapport with each other. Other people that worked at the gym were going. I don't think its a bad thing. I am 49 years old and I feel you only live once so have fun and enjoy life.
