Weight Gain?

What are the best ways to gain about 10-15 pounds in 6 weeks? Not 10-15 pounds of fat, but it can't all be muscle of course. Just some ways to do this please.

Answer:
Why is the time frame so important? Weather you're losing or gaining, I always think its better to just watch yourself as you go and play it by mirror. Just eat peanut butter and shakes with protein powder regularly and lift weights at the gym for as long as a trainer at the gym reccomends is safe.
Go buy a "weight gainer" at a nutrition store. Take one or two servings of that daily (if it says so). Work out at least four days a week with high intensity. Eat lots of quality carbohydrates. Do no cardio or sports like basketball of football, etc. Good luck. IF you're over sixteen, take creatine but make sure you follow directions on the label. Drink lots of water every day (around 16 oz. four times a day)
Weight bearing exercise to build muscle.
Complex carbs and protien. Meat, fish, veggies, pasta, etc. You may wish to read up on some of the body building supplements.

Plenty of good clean food, moderate fat, no high sugar stuff.

To really build muscle mass, you have to work out hard.
The easiest way to do it is to work the upper body one day and the lower body the next. Work out six days a week.

You will see changes in six weeks time, if you are earnest.
Choose your exercies and plan to to three sets of repetitions.
Choose a weight that allows you to do 10-12 reps for your first set, then go to a higher weight that allows you to only do 8-10 reps, then go to a higher weight that only allows you to barely complete 6-8 reps. This is three sets. Work each bodypart like this daily and you will see amazing results in 6 weeks.

FYI, your goals might be a little bit unrealistic. Usually the fastest a person can gain lean tissue is at the rate of .5-1 lb/week (and that's if they do everything right). In 6 weeks you are only looking at a max of 6 lbs. I tell you this so you don't get discouraged or just load on the fat poundage.

Outside of that, the way to gain weight is first to calculate your basal metabolic rate (search online). Then you add about 500 calories on top of that. 6 weeks isn't even enough time to really learn how to eat right. I would say it took me about 4 months to really learn how to balance the calorie intake so I didn't gain too much fat. And this was when I had a very specific and precise plan laid out for me. I learned it from the book "Scrawny to Brawny." Since buying that book, I have been introduced to a wealth of other info on the web to help me pinpoint what adjustments should be made.

www.t-nation.com is also a helpful site. If you search for nutrition articles by John Berardi he will give you the basics of eating right. He was one of the authors of the book I bought. Info on the site is free. Good luck and don't forget to hit the weight room.
