Is it better to take protein after or before a workout?

I'm 16 trying to bulk up.

Answer:
in terms of 'better' then after is the correct answer. after your muscles have been 'torn up' after a workout, you need to hit protein and carbs hard and immediately. have a protein shake within 15mins of finishing your workout.

as for before a workout, you'll find that many bodybuilders do have a shake around an hour before working out (including me).
Read the package but usually it is taken within a half hour after exercise.
Initially afterwards, but if you are working out alot then your muscles will pretty much always be in the state of repair/getting bigger. So ideally you'd want to eat protein/carbs all throughout the day. Small meals.
But if that isn't going to happen...then afterwards is probably better.
A carb rush before may help with a better work out.
i have hear it both ways is fine. try checking out GNC.com they would tell ya!
Both, proteins are an excellent source of energy and recovery, it is recommended to drink a raw free range egg before workouts, (with leafy green vegeables mixed in) and a protein shake containing more raw eggs and fish oils to drink while working out. Once concluding your workout approx. 30 mins afterwards eat as much mashed tuna and banana in whole grain bread sandwiches. IT WORKED FOR ME!!!
