It seems like the only way I'm able to lose weight without exercise is by eating nothing but salad!WHY?

If I eat anything else the numbers on the scale either stay put or go up.

Answer:
To lose weight you have to burn more calories than you eat. If you don't exercise than the only calories you are going to burn are through your daily activities. The lettuce has very few calories and is hard to digest and so your daily activities burn them off. If you are trying to lose weight without exercise, make sure to take a multivitamin and drink lots of water. More water than you think you need.
Cause your not raising your metabolism which burns fat! You need to do some sort of cardio training 1 hour a day 3-5 days a week to raise your metabolism and preferrably do it in the morning because this kick starts it and your body will continue to burn the fat cells through out the day.
Squeeky is correct. You MUST burn more calories than you consume. Start moving! Any exercise is better than nothing, so find something that you like.

walking the dog
kickboxing
running
tennis
racquetball
rock climbing
hiking
belly dancing classes
yoga
Pilate's
riding the bike
roller skating

You get the idea. Get moving a build up a sweat for at least 45 minutes a day 5 days per week. And make healthy food choices. Lots of fruit and veggies, drink nothing but water and occasional milk. good luck
You're not eating enough, and not enough of the right foods. Forget the scales! People are so concerned with the scales, that they'll do anything to get a lower weight. You can lose 10lbs over the weeked if you wanted to, though a majority would be from water. You should include a nutrition plan which has 4-6 small meals a day, include cardio/weight training several times a week, and you'll be on the track to a better body if you do it properly. You're body ain't going to look good if you starve yourself.
