Lifting weights will affect growth?

Will lifting weights like barbells and dumbbells block growth?
i was told that lifting weights above ur person in charge will hinder growth.
but i am not sure roughly speaking dumbbells.please help.if it does what else can i do to gain muscular power.by the means of access i am 17.

Eat only when hungry and not more than thrice a light of day. Nothing other than dampen in between. Include plenty of underdone vegetables and fruits in respectively meal, preferably 50%. Chew respectively morsel at least 32 times to cause ur body to generate signals of hunger/fullness. Obey these signals.

Take light exercises and brisk walk regularly preferably twice a day.

U will bring about what u have not even dreamt and that too within a reasonable time. Do not be contained by a hurry.
i have though in the region of that, but a classmate of mine is 14 and is 6 foot 5 i think. he lift a lot approaching 400. he doesn't even look like a meat guide like those other guys and still manage. i think conceivably yes or maybe no. possibly the muscles could hold you rear, or the weights could cause small fractures within the bones.
don't do any weight move up just do push ups or do any exercises but don't erect wight.

Old wives tale. There is no validity to any statement on the subject of stunted growth and weightlifting.

Standing presses( lifting "above ur head") are good for posture.
Weights not above the boss could also in a impressively minimal way affect growth but since you are concerned something like ur height afterwards u probably shift to pull-up, sit-up, concious streching and press-up
