Binge-eaters: I need an opinion, please?

So I've recently identified myself as a binge-eater and I have very, very low self-esteem. I was wondering what you think about this way to try to help myself into recovery.
I'm thinking of trying the master cleanse or lemonade diet (with a a break every 7 days) for perhaps 3 weeks. I think that this would not only help me with raising my self confidence coz it will at least help me lose weight, but at the same time, I could really focus on my binge-eating problem and what's causing it and everything (I have my psychiatrist to help me).
So what do you guys think?

Answer:
I think the part about having your psychiatrist help is a really great thing, but the cleansing lemonade diet thing is only going to make the binging that much worse when you are done. If you really want to cleanse your body try going vegetarian for a few weeks, you would have to be adding tons of cheese and butter to overdo it on the veggies. If you eat vegetables and fruits, you get a lot more volume for your calories, but you need to watch out for what you put on them. Try the butter spray instead of actual butter, it has no fat and very little calories, and you could spray it on each and every bite if you really wanted to. You can eat a whole bag of frozen broccoli, or a whole head of lettuce, and barely be at 100 calories, so you don't have to starve and binge, you can actually eat quite a lot, but not feel guilty about it. Oh, and there is this thing, I think it's sparkpeople.com where you set up a name and password, and they give you calorie counts, and track fat, protein, and carbs too. There's all kinds of stuff on there, and it's free.
I'm a binge-eater too. Frankly, those things you've suggested don't do crap. Starving yourself isn't the answer. It won't train you out of your habit; you'll probably go right back to binging after you finish the diet. And you won't lose weight, since you body will go into starvation mode and retain energy, i.e. calories and fat. You need certain nutrients every day in order to maintain a healthy body.

First of all, what you need to do is stay away from the junk at all costs; don't even be in the vicinity of it! Secondly, switch your "binge eating" on to things like fresh fruit and salads.

Things like apples, oranges, peaches, pineapple, baby carrots, celery, red bell peppers, and mushrooms are great to eat whenever you feel the need to binge. Best of all, you can eat as much as you want of the veggies (but be careful of the carrots!).

Why not fix yourself a platter every day? They'll fill you up and keep you healthy. And if you have plenty of variety, you might not feel the need to binge anymore. Sounds like a plan to me! (Damn, now I want mushrooms... LOL)

Don't forget your protein, carbs, and calcium, though! You need to keep a good balance if you want to keep from feeling hungry, even if it's psychosomatic.
well won't you just binge straight after the diet? the thing is you don't have to do anything extreme, give yourself something else to do like excercising or something.. and eat a well structured diet and stuff..
you're just replacing binge something for binge something, keep talking to your psychiatrist & get the root of the problem! good luck
Eat only when hungry and not more than thrice a day. Nothing other than water in between. Include plenty of uncooked vegetables and fruits in each meal, preferably 50%. Chew each morsel at least 32 times to activate ur body to generate signals of hunger/fullness. Obey these signals.

Take light exercises and brisk walks regularly preferably twice a day.

U will achieve what u have not even dreamt and that too in a reasonable time. Do not be in a hurry.
