GNC Pro Performance® Weight Gainer?
Answer:
Damn you are thin, you need to eat more at each of your 6 daily meals. Sounds like you must be the type that has to force himself to eat, set a goal of no less then 3000 calories per day if you are only doing a few hours of exercise a week. If you exercise daily then try for at least 4000 calories. At your current weight I don't know that protein is your problem, you simply lack the calories.
I recommended Serious Mass by Optimum Nutrition, if you can do 2 scoupes a day plus eat 3 regular meals you should be able to add 1/2 a pound a week or more. Here's the stats on Serious Mass,
Serving Size: 1 Scoop (167 g) (Chocolate Shown)
Servings Per Container: 32
Calories 625
Calories from Fat 23
Total Fat 2.5 g
Saturated Fat 1 g
Cholesterol 28 mg
Total Carbohydrate 126 g
Dietary Fiber 2 g
Sugars 10 g
Protein 25 g
so as you can see it is high quality and only $1 a serving, mix with 1 cup of 1% milk and 1 cup ice water for the best taste.
Personally I don't recommend anything higher then 1% milk for an adult due to the additional fat being saturated fat, you are better to get your fats from healthy sources like nuts. There's a good point add a few table spoons of peanut butter to your diet and you will get those extra calories for a low cost.
If you want to gain weight, I'm sorry to say, protein shakes will not help in that department. They are a supplement to your diet. They are only helpful before and after a workout, or if you're on the go, and need a quick meal to fill the void.
Whole foods like chicken breast, lean beef, turkey, etc...is gonna help more. You should eat 6-8 meals a day...eating every 2-3 hours.
A typical clean meal would look like this:
6oz. grilled chicken breast
1 cup brown rice
1 cup broccoli
With some good weight training in the mix, you'll be on your way!
my boyfriend takes that to gain weight, but more of muscle weight than just ingeneral weight. He does two double shakes of the whey protein everyday, and the weight gainer when works out. He also eats 6-9 times a day. He is very active with a high metabolism, he is 26 yrs old and weighs 160#. only 5'10 tall. You are still very young, so your metabolsim is doing alot for you. You are smart to start taking care of yourself now. When you hit 30 it is all down hill. As far as gaining health weight, you should try lifting weights and maybe eating more. Keep up the protein, and eat healthy as much as you can. Better to be skinny and lean, rather than boney.
