i know it sounds soo wierd but i have a bad habit of chewing on the inside of my mouth. right below my lips on the inside. it hurts like a ***** but i keep doing it and now i have these wierd scabs that hurt but i keep doing it. does anyone know how to break this kind of habit? and am i alone in this?

Answer:
You HAVE to stop doing this! My dentist told me that doing this can cause cancerous growths - boy, did that get my attention! I had been doing this for years and years, but when the dentist told me that I knew I had to do something. Chewing the inside of your mouth is really similar to smoking, it's related to oral fixation and there are psychological reasons why we do it. That being said, what worked for me was how disgusting the inside of my mouth felt and how uncomfortable those sores were. So every time I was compelled to bite or tear at those loose pieces (I swear, I was just evening them up!), I would run my tongue along the rough spots instead. Sometimes I would rub really hard and it may have looked funny but I was able to stop.
Hopefully, you're not as old as I was when I quit. I have scars on the inside of my mouth from biting too much.
Best way is chew gum.
no you're are not alone, i do the same thing and have been ever since i can remember. Its so hard to stop i really dont know how. im sorry i cant tell you how to help stopping but no you are def. not alone!
Keep your mouth clean. Brush and use listerine. Buy a case if gum and chew that. Carry a bottle of water with you all the time. Stop chewing the inside of your lip! The gum and water will keep your mouth busy, the oral hygeine will heal the scabs. Good luck.
when you notice yourself biting push your tongue up onto the roof of your mouth this will keep you teeth apart and stop you nibbling away at your lips. It also works for people that grind there teeth.
watch the amount of caffeine you drink because i notice when i drink more caffeine i bite my lip more
