How long does it take for spacers to START hurting? I just got spacers put on today and they don't hurt yet...
Answer:
o they will, but its worth it, it makes your teeth much prettier in the long run
They may start hurting tonight, maybe tomorrow morning. It depends. To some people they don't hurt that much at all, but to me, they hurt more than the braces themselves
For me, It wasn't until the next day.after I'd "slept on it."
I had a spacer way back in grade 3. It hurt when I had it put in and maybe for 2 days but that was it...nothing too crazy.
The spacer is just put there to keep the place for a new tooth so unless another tooth starts to move over you won't have pain.
Sometimes if the spacer is too small for the new tooth to move in than you'll get pain and have to have the space removed early.
The worst thing about it is putting it on, getting food stuck in it, and taking it off. Not THAT much pain, but it will probably hurt in the morning.
My least favorite part is where they have to drill the glue off your teeth.
As someone who's had braces before, and subsequently spacers, my mouth started hurting the next day. For some, the pain can be nearly equal to that of getting braces; for others, not so much. Chances are you'll be okay as long as you take a couple aspirin.
It depends on if you mouth is very sensitive. My mouth isn't so it really didn't hurt that much. And if you do It should start to hurt by this evening or tomorrow morning. Take some Tylenol and the pain wont be as bad. Some of my friends have VERY sensitive mouths so it hurt them really badly. What really hurt me was my expander. thank god that's out. Hope they don't hurt you to much!
from my experience, I seem to remember it taking about a day or 2 before they started to hurt a little. There's many painful things I can remember about having braces, but nothing was extremely bad -- it just gets kind of annoying having all that in your mouth. The worst part for me was one of the first things they do when they put that large metal thing fully of a puddy/cement type of substance to get a mold of your upper and then lower teeth. What a nightmare... i remember the gagging feeling!
not that bad..power chains killers tho
