I don't know what it does to your teeth. But I do know that if you own TMJ (a very hurting jaw problem) you should not chew gum. Once I stopped chewing gum, my most of my backache went away. I once in a blue moon experience pain very soon. I think it's okay sometimes but would not chew it adjectives the time.
