You know the callous taste packing the dentist puts contained by... does that trickle out on its own?

Or will I have to remove it myself..

Answer:
I can with the sole purpose assume that the dentist packed some Alvogyl into a tooth socket to treat Dry Socket. It is the solely thing that I can reflect on of that is objectionable tasting. If it is this, consequently no you won't have to remove it. In certainty, since the socket heals from the inside out, you don't hold to worry going on for removing anything from the socket. As it heals it pushes everything out, so zilch gets trapped and disappeared behind.
It's not packing. It's Puddin'. Your dentist is a sex criminal. Run Far. Run Fast.
HELLO,
IF A DENTIST PUT A PACKING MATERIAL IN AND IT FELL OUT, CALL THE DENTIST AND ASK IF YOU NEED TO BE SEEN AGAIN.
