I have been using whitening strips on my teeth. Now they are spotty. Is this normal?

I've used the Rembrandt Whitening Strips twice now, and my teeth have white spots and are whiter at the bottom part of the tooth than at the top. I called Rembrandt and they said to keep using the strips to even out the issue. Has anyone else had this problem? Is this normal?

Answer:
This is not an uncommon problem and is usually temporary. It generally happens because the tooth becomes a bit dehydrated and the spots will usually go away once the tooth has been rehydrated. I would suggest using the strips as recommended or every other day and see how you react. Also, do not brush your teeth before you put them on and no dark foods or drinks for 1/2 hour after.
Hope that helps- Good luck.

Some of the tooth whitening strips contain an excess of hydrogen peroxide which causes problems. Use strawberries instead for whitening your teeth. From http://aches.in/toothwhitening.html...
This probably isn't your problem, but if you have any bonding then the bond will not change color. The OTC strips can react in an uneven way.
