Medicated Filling?

I have a medicated padding, that they said would be there for in the order of 2 months, and if i had distress I needed a root canal. There be no pain, so they are taking the medicated one out and pputting a concrete one in monday. What exactly will they be doing?

Will I involve Novocaine? Will there be a drill?

Answer:
Yes, they will freeze it, later use a drill to remove the medicated filling and any oxidization that may be present. Then they'll fill it near a permanent innards.
