Is swallowing chewing gum bad for u?
Answer:
It is not digested so it goes in one end and out the other, harmlessly.
Yes. You'll have a chewing gum tree growing in your belly
It is only bad as you produce more acid in the stomach trying to break the rubbery substance down as it is very persistent.
ITS PERFECTLY FINE, ITS JUST TAKES LONGER THAN MOST FOOD TO DIGEST. BUT I HONELY NEVER SPIT OUT MY GUM I ALWAYS EAT IT
It doesn't harm you, but at times it doesn't break down in stomach acid, so it shows up (at times) a week later in your fecal matter.
No, it will take awhile to digest but you're perfectly fine if you swallow chewing gum. I do it all the time.
Yes, it could block your intestines and it takes 7 years to digest.
yes because your stomach acid does not digest the chewing gum and it stays in your digestion system
i hope this helps if you need any more help with anything feel free to email me anytime and i will get back to you as soon as possible
Everyone says It will take 7 years to digest.... ITS A LIEEEEEEEE (a real big LIE) inside your stomach there is acids, which send all the food to your intestine. Chewing gum is not resistant to acids. So its not BAD for you, but its not really thats healthy, its OK though. ;)
No, but it could give you indigestion. Don't belive the old wives tales that it takes years to digest either!
Don't swallow it, just spit it out.
It's fine, it'll get digsted the same as any other food.
if anyone had ever died because the chewing gum they swallowed had blocked their gut and caused untold internal damage then it would have to carry a health warning in just about every country of the world.
All this nonsense about 7 years to digest is all cobblers, the body will get rid of it within at most 48 hours (about 7 or 8 hours if you have a curry the same night!).
People have been swallowing gum since it was invented and some swallow things a lot worse than gum, if you swallow a foreign object such as a diamond then old wives tales would surmise that as it took millions of years to become a diamond the best you could hope to pass is a lump of coal in about 3 million years, so worry about it, I think not.
If you want to swallow your gum then my friend, carry on, as you save me the trouble of washing my hands every time I pull up a chair loaded with gum underneath in any public place.
One question which might allay your fears..have you never eaten sweetcorn??
yes! when chewing gum your mind thinks your eating food but your not so your body starts to create this acid to break down this make belief food, but there is no food there so who know's what this acid is doing to your inside's?
i think i saw this on brainiac, you will be fine.
You really shouldn't do it!
When I was at school, one of my teachers told us that one of his puplis was chewing gum, it got stuck in his throat, clogged his wind-pipe and he died in the playground.
It's always to but spat out once you're done so please dont swallow it anymore!
I ALWAYS swallow my chewing gum and trust me it exits the body as any other waste food does. Don't believe anyone who says it's dangerous because it just isn't.
