I want to go to the dentist but Im scared!!?
But I am terrified of them telling me I need a tooth pulled out or something. I will only go to hospital and under general and then they can do it.
The most i have ever had is a filling, and thats when I was like 13 or 14... didnt hurt at all, but they didnt need to inject me!
Its where it has been 3 years and im scared that there is going to be loads of problems, so I get scared and leave it, then when i think about going again, it suddenly 3 and a half years... a vicious circle!!
What should I do guys?
Answer:
well, i didnt go to the dentist for like 11years or so and i suffered the worst pain ever imagenable but i wud not go for all the teeth in china.
..thats coz my dentist were butchers and a rip off and just complete planx who did not giv a rats *** bout me, just me purse..when i went i had to take a napkin and spray it with perfume so i cud smell the scent and not the surgery.
i had to have general.
BUT i did my homework and i found a really decent and genuinely nice dentist, it didnt smell, it was full of nice receptionist and i just told them that i was bricking it and they suggested i had a consultation before they even did any work on me if needed, i only needed a fillin, they were great and i was soo suprised at how much they improved and modernised their tools and it was so so so 100 percent fine..so much so that i was disapointed when he said i only needed one thing doin after all them years and to *** back in 6months.. crazeh.
just go and have a consultation, thats all.. i mite only need small tings done, you dont have to have it dun that day. if you dont feel comfortable then ur dentist dude aint doin his job right so go else where. just go for a consulation..a chat..they have improved so much now a days..just go 4 a chat, go on mate. do ooooo it
be a man just go
better having clean teeth than dirty cavity teeth
if u think ur teeth r bad! then do it. but if they arent i wouldnt! im scared of the needle injection!
There are dentists that specialise in nervous patients such as yourself. Check through your phone book to find your nearest. Don't worry your not alone, I'm terrified of the Dentist also.
Don't be afraid, be VERY afraid!!
Just kidding.
Please do go, the longer you leave it the worse it will be, Im sure it will not be as bad as what you think.
Call your dentist and schedule a checkup and then ask to have the dentist call you back. WHen you talk to the dentist explain your situation on the phone and ask if will prescribe an anti-anxiety pill for to use before you appointment. It doesn't really hurt to see a dentist now a days. I doubt you will need any teeth pulled as they don't do that anymore unless they really need to. Also when you do go to the appointment STOP AT THE RECEPTIONISTS desk before you leave and make your next appointment for your 6 month check up. We all see the dentist on the same day in this family and then all get scheduled the same day 6 months later before we ever leave the dentist office. I am surprised your parents never did this.
actually the needle doesn't hurt that much,i think you'd feel more pain if you don't get your teeth checked/fixed.do it man,do it.
Find a new dentist if you didn't like the last one.
If you don't get any cavaties fixed, you'll end up with a rotten tooth. That is a whole lot uglier and painful than having one pulled.
Most dentists are reluctant to pull a tooth. They would much prefer to save it.
In any event, you don't have to decide on the spot. Go and get your exam and then decide what course of treatment you want to pursue.
An exam should be painless.
Injections do not hurt if you have the right dentist!
I went last month after 12 years of avoiding it
I needed one out and it really wasnt a big deal, your imagination is just makes it worse.
It actually is less noticable than a needle injection in the arm
MATE,
There are people (girls included) of your age laying down their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan so that you can go swiftly and safely to the dentists without fear of being shot or blown up en route.
Do it for them?
Hey, I would advise you strongly to go sometime soon.
You have no need to be scared if you've been brushing your teeth at least (i say this because this is better than once eevery few days) once a day thoroughly.
If you can see no visible problems.
If you cannot feel any problems in your mouth
If you don't have bad breath ( which can be caused by not brushing your teeth regularly)
Okay, well they won't make you have an injection the first time you go unless you say you don't mind having one for a filling or something.
And also, i've had to have 4 teeth taken out for my braces and i am terrified of injections. but if you don't want your mouth to rot please go

Let me put it this way, if you go now you might have a cavity or somethng simple like that. If you needed a tooth pulled you'd most likely me in extreme pain. If you wait, you will end up with more problems than you had originally had which will only get worse.
Point being: wait to go to the dentist and you'll be more screwed than you'd ever be if you made an apt. tomorrow.
You should make an appointment with a dentist who is known for dealing with nervous patients. There are ones out there.
At your age, it will be very, VERY unlikely that you will need to have a tooth pulled unless your wisdom teeth are coming in. When your wisdom teeth do come in, they will be taken out by an oral surgeon (either a dentist/doctor or someone who has gone an additional 4 years AFTER dental school to specialize in taking them out). Most likely, you'd be under general anethestia when they do it.
Dental professionals are very, very reluctant to pull a tooth. It is only seen as a last resort when we have no means of saving the tooth or patients' wishes or expenses prevent us from saving in a manner that we see fit.
You need to make an appointment with a dentist ASAP and follow thorugh with it.
Maybe you coudl get the name of one that a friend really likes. Then you could just go and talk with the dentist and egt to know them before you let them start working. Most dentists are more then willing to do that for the dental phobic patients.
It is NOT that scary...we're people too. Just like you.
So just breath, relax and understand that a dentist wants you to be comfortable when you're in the chair.
Now go make an appointment. The longer you put it off, the worse it will get. At least now, there is a chance that there isn't that much wrong...it'd be better to go get a filling now, then to get a tooth pulled in a couple of years because you're in a lot of pain (we had someone like that come into our dental clinic). Prevention now will save you a lot of pain later on.
