Oral Surgery Coming Up. Need Advice?
Answer:
I had the same problem. For me they but a bracket on the tooth that had to be pulled down and then tied a small piece of elastic to it and connected it to my front tooth. For me it came down fairly quickly, but everyone is different.
Don;t take your pain medication on an empty stomach ~ you will throw-up. But it will be hard to eat anything for a while. So try a milk-shake and that's about all you can eat for a week or so until the surrounding gum heals. It won't hurt too long, and it will take awhile for the permanent tooth to come down. Can you remember how long it took for your front teeth to come in when you lost them? I think it's a good 2-3 months. Good luck.
I had this done about a year and a half ago. You sound lucky... my tooth was up by my nose, and there was something blocking it XD; Took a year and a half to get down. Since is right there, it should only take a few months at most. Its pretty simple, they numb you, put you to sleep. When i got up, i asked when they were going to start! It was really cool :P Dont worry too much about it and good luck :3
Hard to predict the amount of time it will take for the tooth to come down. The surgeon will probably test it for mobility before attaching the bracket ("brace"), since sometimes teeth fuse to bone and will have no chance of moving.
The procedure is not usually difficult for the patient, just be sure to stay on VERY soft foods until the tooth is pulled into occlusion, you could so easily dislodge the bracket before it has joined the archwire network.
I'm having the same thing too! I'm 16 and at 10 They pulled my baby tooth out one of my front teeth and they said the extra tooth will come down and than it will bring my grown up tooth Ive waited 6 whole damn years and it hasnt! now I'm getting braces on Monday. And I have No clue what they're going to do. Because My one denist said They'd either leave it and put a fake one in it's place or pull it down. you're sounds alot more eaiser than mine. lol But good luck!
My children had this very procedure done. You will be just shocked at how fast that tooth will come through the gums. My kids were asleep when they had this procedure done. When you awake you will be sore that is all. Because of different dental surgeries I have had and my kids I made a website that will help you prepare for this day. But seriously it isn't bad. You will do great! Just don't get food in the sores.
