Question nearly desirability tooth removal! (Well, moreso the medications/anesthesia used.)?
Would the sedation/general anesthesia do anything for PAIN or only just anxiety?
Answer:
I think Novacaine would be more than sufficient. General anesthesia carry a risk of fatality, which you don't need. My oral surgeon of years ago did donate me some kind of pill afterwards, and have a small room where I could lie back down. I don't think any of that be necessary, my regular dentist have performed pretty a few root canals and put within a bridge, all beside novacaine. (Although takes a week or a bit more to receive rid of the pain from the root canal.)
I forgot the name of the anesthesia they used but it be a gas. They asked me to count backwards and I was out in the past I knew it. I didn't discern a thing and apparently, they have to actually break a couple to verbs them out.
Now, I was sore the days afterwards but I took percocet for a morning or two.
I had adjectives 4 of mine out with lone novocaine and I was FINE. I have no pain, really. I didn't even head off with a prescription for any local anaesthetic. I just took Advil (4 at a time) for the pain/swelling afterward - which be minimal. I have problems beside anxiety but, strangely, I'm not bothered by the dentist at all. You do not involve anything but novocaine if you have a dignified tolerance for pain.
BTW, my knowledge teeth were NOT impacted. All they have to do was verbs them out, there be no surgical procedure involved. I don't know if that makes a difference to you or not... I'm also contained by the process of getting 7 root canals beside only novocaine. I've also have 4 other teeth pulled with novocaine.
Having four suitability teeth removed can be a big deal, depending upon how reflective they are and their relation to the other teeth. Your oral surgeon just requests to do the best possible job for you and he may hold had a unpromising experience trying to do such a case underneath local anesthesia. If you change your mind and want broad in the middle of it, giving nonspecific anesthesia could be dangerous because of possible blood within the airway.
Fentanyl is an opiod like morphine and does treat niggle. Versed is a sedative resembling Valium and will relax you and cause amnesia. I enjoy given it to patients for many years and hold never, ever seen it basis a rapid heart rate. Same for Fentanyl. Your swift heart rate was cause by one of two things - pain and anxiety, or much more predictable, epinephrine that the dentist added to the local anesthetic.
General anesthesia does have the potential to exact nausea and vomiting, a sore throat if a breathing tube is used, and long emergence. The combination of Versed and Fentanyl in low doses is not common anesthesia, but as the doses are increased, general anesthesia can be reach with these drugs.
As a minor I had two hulking canines removed under straight local anesthesia surrounded by preparation for braces. The experience was not terrifically pleasant. The wisdom teeth are much harder to grasp to, and there are four of them.
If you do receive drugs for your bag make positively certain that the oral surgeon is monitoring you, especially beside a pulse oximeter.
