Dental injection medication??

What medication does dentist inject to numb your gums for a procedure?? Does it hurt??

Answer:
Your dentist will probably use one of the two most common medications: Lidocaine with Epinephrine or Xylocaine. Despite popular belief Novocaine is not used in most dental offices. The shot itself feels like a pinch and some compare the feeling to that of a bee sting. Your dentist will probably rub some type of oral anesthetic gel similar to orajel to numb your gum a little prior to the injection itself. Don't worry, the injection is over before you know it.
novocain
first shot hurts, rest are a breeze
It's either novocaine or xylocaine. The injection itself can produce a bit of pain, but it goes away quickly.
Lidocaine or Mepivicaine or Carbicaine or Xylocaine or etc etc, Depends. No it doesn't hurt you might feel one little pinch. It only hurts/burns if they push it in real fast. OR if they get exactly where they are supposed to be sometimes you can get what is called an electric shock it feels like somebody shocked your tongue (usually happens w/ lower injections).
local anestic
it stings a little when the needle goes in but not bad
HELLO,
THE MOST COMMON MEDICINES USED BY DENTISTS ARE EITHER LIDOCAINE OR MEPIVACAINE.
THE ONLY PAIN YOU MAY FEEL IS A SLIGHT PINCH FROM THE NEEDLE. THEN YOU WILL GO NUMB AND FEEL NOTHING.
THE ACTUAL CHEMICAL IN "NOVACAINE", CALLED PROCAINE, IS NOT USED IN FOR DENTISTRY ANY LONGER.
