What happenes during a root canal?
Answer:
Both of the previous answers are correct. They will numb you mouth just like they would for any other filling. They drill the decay out of your tooth, and then they use little files to clean deep into your tooth and remove any nerve tissue that has been infected. One they have drilled and removed all the decay they will most likely swab the inside of your tooth with medication and pack the deep canals of your tooth with some cotton. Then a temporary filling will be placed in you tooth. You will most likely need 2 visits to the dentist to have the Root Canal completed. Your dentist may put you on an antibiotic to prevent infection, and to be sure the tooth Will heal okay. Two weeks after your first appointment, you will see your dentist again, and the temporary filling and cotton will then be removed from your tooth. If the tooth looks good, and there are no signs of further decay, your permanent filling will be placed in your tooth. I hope that this will help you out a bit. I just had my second root canal about 2 weeks ago. It's really not that bad. Just like having a filling, only it takes a bit longer because they are drilling deeper into your tooth. My biggest complaint was soreness in my jaw....from having my mouth open so long!!..
Good Luck!
It is just like a filling but takes a few minutes more. They numb you which is a little pinch, if you can pinch your arm you can do it. You will be numb after that they will drill out the carious tooth and into the nerve space they will use files to clean out the nerve space and remove the nerve they will refill the tooth and youre done.
During a root canal the dentist digs up your tooth and takes out the nerve killing the tooth and later on they fill you tooth back up so that it looks like the tooth is normal and its still there.
Hope it Helps <3

they drill a trench thru the middle of all your teeth, right down to the nerve, to dig out all the decayed tooth. It hurts a lot. But only the first time. The next one won't hurt, cuz all the nerves will have died from the first time.
