Do braces really hurt?
Answer:
Ugh. They are not fun! That's for sure. They are very uncomfortable at first and sore, but eventually the soreness will go away, until they're tightened again that is! Sometimes you also have to wear rubberbands with them that stretch from the top to bottom brackets and feel really sore, especially at first. But you will get used to them. The only other real source of pain for me was that sometimes the wire going through the brackets of my braces would not be cut down far enough at the ends and would slightly poke me in the back of the mouth! Ouch!! I also had a problem with the brackets themselves rubbing against the inside of my mouth over time and becoming very sore for a bit, even cutting into me. I suggest loading up on lots and LOTS of wax from your othordontist to counteract this problem. Bottom line, yes they are a pain, sometimes physically, but 2 years down the road or whenever, when you FINALLY get them taken off and see your brand new, straight and perfect smile, they are SO WORTH IT!
Some days they will and some days they wont. For the most part, they will not except when you go every few weeks to have them tightened or adjusted. But it really won't "hurt", it will just be very sore. Different for everyone- depending on the extent of you malalignment.
Not too bad, they're just annoying as hell though! good luck w/ that ..
the first weeks you wont be able to even eat ,but then your mouth will get used to it,..but watch out cause those doctors will suck the money off of you.
it depends on why you're getting them. I had a gap between my two front teeth so they used what they called a chain to close the gap. I guess it would get smaller and smaller so it would hurt when they put a new one on.
When you first get braces, you usually get spacers put in on your very back teeth on the bottom. They leave that there for about a week and that, to me, hurt the worst. But after that, it's not bad. On the days of your appointments your mouth might be sore for the rest of the day, but after that it should be fine.
And the little amount of pain is worth the great smile you'll have when you get them off.
Yes.
It will be a bit uncomfortable at first and its your teeth adjusting to the shape that your dentist has your teeth ie perfect in their eyes or unless you have an expander (which will expand your jaw wideth) , your teeth won't be any problems unless you get cavities behind the braces and yes it can happen some initially since your teeth are in their own pattern so when braces are involved to correct something it will initially hurt for a while .. not a lot of pain thing but more of a irritating pain thing.
I just got my braces 4 months ago, my experience so far it's not so bad though only after tightened every month I suffer in chewing the food but only for a few days!! good luck!
The first month you get it put on it shouldn't hurt, but after every monthly checkup it will get sore anywhere from 2 minutes to a week. But it isn't really pain you're feeling, it's just a little sore in your teeth as they move around in your mouth. The amount of the soreness also depends on how crooked your teeth are. My teeth were very crooked and it only hurt about 4-5 days at the max. During that soreness period if you have one, I would recommend just eating stuff u can swallow fast without much chewing, but if you want to eat stuff like beef jerky it's entirely up to you and if you can endure the soreness. Overall braces aren't so bad because I look forward to getting retainers. :) good luck on getting braces.
Getting them done doesn't hurt 'cuz they glue them on (Invisalign doesn't count). It's after they're on they begin to work their magic by pushing and pulling your teeth into position. That'll make your gums sore. After a month you'll see the results; more if your teeth are seriously misaligned to begin with.
No, braces do not hurt. But let me give you some advice. When they change your braces and a piece of the metal comes out. Make sure you go back to the dentist to fix it because I didn't and it cut my mouth. I still have a cut in my mouth that sometimes gets infected
It depends! It most defiantly will feel wierd but I had no problem with them at all! I started eating food the day after I got braces. It just depends how bad your teeth are messed up!
Hell yeah! But I guess you could take it
Everyone's pain threshold is different, but in general they will do. The pain will last about a week at most. It isn't sharp, it is just dull and annoying.
Keep hydrated - the more hydrated your are, the quicker your mouth will 'toughen up'.
Dose up on painkillers
Use the provided dental wax for sore spots
Try to return back to a normal diet when you feel able - gradually introduce a normal diet as the days go by. You will need to stick to soft foods originally, or at least foods that require little or no chewing.
