I have a tooth removed today at 2:30 pm, and its still bleeding. HELP!?
Answer:
As a dentist myself I can assure you that minimal bleeding/oozing can last several days after an extraction, if the bleeding continues or worsens after you will want to give your regular dentist a phone. A dry socket will usually present itself within the first 72 hours after an extraction, usually after those first 72 hours the likelihood of dry socket decreases considerably. It can in truth take months for the extraction site to completely alleviate and even then at hand may always be an indentation. Should the bleeding become worse contact your dentist via his/her emergency number or stop by your local ER. Continue taking any medications your dentist may hold prescribed and after the first 24 hours begin serene rinses with heat salt river, this will insure that food debris does not return with into the socket and will also help punch-up off infection. Good luck and hope you are thought better soon!
I had my 4 sense teeth pulled at 1:30 today. (I live in the Eastern Time Zone, so it's after 10pm here) and mine are still bleeding too. I'm going to keep on until tomorrow morning to see what happens. If it doesn't stop, we can dance to the doctor's together!
But seriously, give it for a time bit more time. DO NOT touch the area near your tongue or hand, and don't chew at hand (yadda, yadda, all that stuff that the doctor told you.) As long as it isn't a lashing flow of blood, just skulk it out. Obviously, if it hasn't gotten any better by tomorrow, you (and me) need to send for your doctor immediately. But I guess every thing is going to be alright.
Best of luck to you! (And me too. lol)
P.S. Thanks Dr. Chris (the response above me)! I muse that helped both of us!
I have a couple of teeth pulled recently, and it took several days (4 if I remember right) for the bleeding to stop. My dentist told me it ooze for a few days sometimes,( because blood clots have to cover the socket to restore to health the tissue, and they take time to clot) especially if you hold 2 side by side pulled at the same time.
Dr. Chris give some good guidance.
Its never pleasant, but you'll get through it.
