HELP! Just had a tooth out. Any suggestions on how to combat the pain and what is easy to eat?

I can't take ibuprofen as i am an asthmatic.

Should i get an ice pack or something top help with the swelling?

I'm really hungry but i'm struggling to think of something easy and nice to eat.

Answer:
When i had four wisdom teeth removed i went with soup and apple sauce =/

Stuff you dont have to chew =)

Ice; Bring down swelling, whitch will reduce the pain a little bit

Go with ice and heat, and i dont recommend meds, they are bad for you health
You could eat soup - thats pretty filling, ICE CREAM =), Yogurt, Just anything soft and that you dont have to chew much. For the pain - yes, they say Ice will help with the swelling so put a nice ice pack on there, that will feel better...I try to sleep a lot too when I have something thats painful.. =) I hope you feel better soon!
Eat soup.

Also - bite on a tea bag where the tooth was removed - doesn't taste great - but will help to heal.
well i still use the old method of columbian nose candy little dab on the affected area what pain
Yogurt is good. I had a tooth extracted from under the gum last year and it hurt insanely! but i used Aleve and the pain went away.
eat a crushed-up freezie in a bowl with a spoon. mmmmmmm, i'm gonna have one too!
Advil.. Motrin..hell Morphine drip.. LMAO.. ohh and Drink warm liquids and eat thing like soups and noodle.. no hard chewing though.. ohh and dont use a straw for anything till its fully healed!

SAY CHEESE!
Soft foods like mashed potatoes and jello are good options. You certainly can get an ice pack to help ease swelling, also naproxen sodium (Aleeve) can help.
mash potato and soup is great it slides down, minimum pain. Also raviolis they only take 1 chew !
Avoid really hot food and really cold food.Your nerves will have a field day x
yogurt, jello, soup, anything very soft and not very hard, I just got a tooth pulled but, it wasn't bad at all. I just had to put a napkin on it and I could eat whatver I wanted
Call you dentist and get a subsitute pain killer. Have soft foods - like mashed potatoes, soups/broths are also easy to consume. Try to gargle with warm, salted (highly) salted water- this increases recovery time of the gums
The doctor should have given you pain killers, but if he/she didn't TAKE ALEVE. It's the best asprin out there.

As for food.Soft things like crackers, applesauce, soup or protien shakes. Nothing solid or bulky.
Try a non ibuprofen pain killer and i take ibuprofen and i am a asthmatic but every one reacts differently but ice it good to suck on and pudding and jello and mashed potatoes and be sure to drink aton of water and sleep that should help good luck!
Get a lipton tea bag, steep it in hot water as if your making tea. Squeeze the water out and put it on the empty socket. It will help with the pain and swelling some.

As for food, go with soups something like the one that Campbells makes that you microwave in the can and drink it. Or bullion cubes, those make a nice broth and you could even crush some crackers up into it, let them get soggy and eat that.
I had two molar's pulled at the same time before the beginning on last school year.

Get an ice pack and talk to your doctor about get some pain killers.

Jello and Pudding are good for the first week, then you should be able to move to more solid foods.
Eat liquid based food like soups with bread

Rinse ur month with salt water to keep it clean and heal it faster.

Rap up some ice cubes in a hankie or some other material like a face cloth
When I had my wisdom teeth removed, the easiest thing to eat was oatmeal. It can be swallowed without chewing.
You should talk to your doctor for what medication to take - my husband is asthmatic and he takes ibuprofen without any problems - but then again all people are not created equal and you shouldn´t take something based on what we will tell you on YA.

As for eating - try mashed potatoes or anything else soft and that would not leave any bits and pieces of food that can be lodged in the hole. I ate alot of mashed potatoes and chicken broth and applesauce when I had my wisdom teeth taken out.

hope you get better
shakes, soups, purees, and dips are your key foods

I'm not sure about the pain though.
Oh god... I'm getting a tooth out tomorrow... Not looking forward to it!! Hope you'll be ok x
yes use ice pack since you can't take any med's
Food:
Top Roman
bananas
spaghetti
cereal ( soggy, I know that's yucky)

Its only for a wk or 2 the most. Make sure even these types of food, after you get done eating to rinse your mouth. You should of gotten this type of thing to insert water in and then directly spray where they took out the tooth.
Paracetamol for the pain. To eat ,well try some soup.not too hot. The last time I had a tooth out I existed for two days on mini chocolate Swiss rolls.Break bits off, roll it into little balls and let it go down the opposite side of the mouth to the extraction. It will only be for a couple of days hopefully and you will be able to eat soft things. In a week you should be back to normal.
you should be able to take soluble asprin, my wife is suffering from toothache and swears by it, because its soluble it gets into your blood stream quicker.
Your dentist should have prescribed something you can take for pain. I would phone him or her and ask. Ice may help and I would have a nice soft boiled egg or a bowl of soup or porridge. Maybe yogurt or pudding. Soft macaroni and cheese. Hope you feel better soon.
When I had braces in and teeth out I lived on Angel Delight yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... Coka Cola also good due to bubbles round the teeth. Not sure if this is healthy but it helped me. Soup also good. Hang on in there and take paracetamol or cocodamol or even dihydracodene if they sell it over the counter but check you are not allergic to these or they won't make you ill first. Get well soon.
try soup sweety i feel for you did they not give you pain pills
dab some oil of cloves on the area gargle with salt water and eat soup
Didn't your dentist/oral surgeon whoever removed the tooth prescribe you pain medication? They should have.

Ice packs/frozen food does help with the swelling along with keeping your head elevated.

Mash potatoes, milk shakes, pudding, jello, soup, ice cream, baby food, etc.
don't be a sissy! i had all 4 wisdom teeth out at once-they were all impacted and i didnt take any painkillers-i didnt need to!
