What to brush with if a person dislikes toothpaste?
Answer:
believe it or not you dont need tooth paste just brushing alone is enough to clean your teeth..you can use things like baking powder to brush with..I am sure if you look you can find a nature tooth paste on the web made by some hippies..good luck and remember to floss...
baking soda
There are SOOO many flavors of toothpaste. check out the Crest web page or the Colgate web page.
Mouthwash!
Have you tried Uncle Tom's strawberry for kids? Not too bad at all...
My neighbor, who's 8, absolutely hates brushing his teeth, so I made a deal with him.. he's my 'taste tester', or so he thinks.
Every now and then I bring home samples for him to try...and he tells me if he likes them or not... so far, the Uncle Tom's is his favorite... he went from brushing twice a week to twice a day!
Alot of people aren't too fond of the mint flavors.. some of them are too harsh.. you could try baking soda and peroxide if you're dead-set against any OTC pastes.
Good Luck.
The baking soda suggestion was a good one. (It was what I actually intended to post when I saw the question, but someone beat me to it.)
Also, as another person suggested, there are a wide variety of toothpaste flavors out there...I've used a vanilla toothpaste before (I think by Crest?) and it didn't taste minty at all. You may want to experiment a little with that too.
Otherwise, baking soda!
Uncle Tom's brand toothpaste offers natural toothpaste in flavors that aren't traditionallly too "toothpasteish". Colgate and Crest both have different flavor options as well... there are some citrus toothpastes and cinnamon toothpastes as well as vanilla! If you can't find anything that suits you in the toothpaste aisle I would suggest mixing baking soda and hydrogen peroxide into a thick paste and using that to brush your teeth. Alternatively you could run your toothbrush under hot water and brush well then follow up with a mouthwash such as Listerine (comes in a citrus flavor or an originial flavor that is very antiseptic tasting but not minty) that kills bacteria and helps fight plaque build up. Don't forget to floss and you should be just fine! Happy brushing!
