Should I go to the dentist if I have a minor cold?

I have a dentist appointment scheduled for tomorrow afternoon, and I just fell ill with a pretty minor cold today. No coughing, but a pretty bad sore throat, runny nose, and earache. It is just a cleaning, but I am a new patient, and he is the only dentist I can see (and it took me a few months to get in). I wouldn't mind still going, myself, but is it a rude thing to do? Would the dentist want me to cancel? Should I go?

Answer:
It'll be difficult, even to get a cleaning, if you can't breathe out of your nose. And it might irritate your sore throat. My dentist would send me home, but if you call them, they might be able to switch your appointment or give you another cancellation spot.
Cancel the appointment. You won't be able the breathe at all and the dentist probably won't want to risk catching your cold or dealing with the inevitable bad breath that seems to come with a cold. Also, your already sore throat can get very dry from having your mouth open that long.
