Go to the dried herb section of the grocery store look for cloves they penchant yuk (aniseedy) but they are really cheap and they are a natural numbing agent for a toothache.

clove grease is an old remedy for tooth ache. I think it's impossible to swallow too much of it over the long term, but if it's basically a temporary fix after it shoudl be ok.
ice might minister to some if you have it, or if you dont own ice see if you own a bag of frozen peas or other vegetables that might work.

Take a couple of cloves and pound the heads... maintain it on the aching tooth, it'll burn but the throbbing and the burning will subside soon. Or you could mix 1/2 teaspoon of cinnammon with 1 teaspoon of honey and rub it on your gum over the tooth that hurts. It help.
i hear biting an asprin on the hurting tooth helps but if you don't even hold that i would say to rinse near warm brackish water because it will verbs it well. if you hold like 3 bux you can draw from temporary padding at any drug or grocery store and it helps like mad. most times a tooth ache is cause by an exposed nerve from a break or cavity and if you verbs it well and steep it the pain should stop until you can see you're dentist. flawless luck

vanilla extract is numbing. if yout going to the store to get something simply get some anbesol or toddler orajel. till you can go to the dentist. and dont put an asprin on your tooth , it can damage your gums.
