L-Tyrosine and Omega 3 replacing Ritalin?

A local health food store owner recommended to take L-Tyrosine, one early in the morning and one mid day. Also, Omega 3 one to two times a day. I used to take 20mg fast release Ritalin three times a day for ADD. I was very unhappy with the long term effects of my mood, so he suggested these dietary supplements. Any information or experiences with this?

Answer:
It sounds like a decent idea. Many people diagnosed with ADD turn out to have nutritional defiencies which may be contributing to their symptoms. The majority of the US population is deficient in Omega 3s...it would be good to supplement your diet with those whether or not you remain or ritalin, unless you are already eating ground flax meal and salmon every day (ie big sources of omega 3s)!

L-tyrosine is apparently good for increasing energy and aiding concentration.worth a try!
