Answer:
Hydroxy Tryptophan

Numerous clinical studies suggest that taking 5-HTP (Hydroxy Tryptophan) supplements increase Serotonin which has been found to have important antidepressant benefits. Higher levels of Serotonin are associated with decreased depression, improved sleep, alleviation of anxiety, relief from and prevention of migraine headaches and weight loss resulting from reduced carbohydrate cravings. Reduced levels of Serotonin are associated with feelings of stress, anxiety and helplessness. 5-HTP assists in increasing your brain's Serotonin level gently and naturally by providing the precursor material for the syntheses of Serotonin. Other symptoms of Serotonin deficiency can include: carbohydrate cravings, migraines, obsessive compulsive behaviors, and other behavioral disorders. Restoring Serotonin is the basis for one of the most popular classes of drugs prescribed today. These drugs, including Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil and others are widely used to treat depression, anxiety, and insomnia. They are effective because they increase the availability of Serotonin. Increasing the availability of the Serotonin also helps the Amino Acid 5-Hydroxy Tryptophan work. This means that the body uses some of the 5-HTP in your diet to make Serotonin. Increase 5-HTP and you may increase Serotonin. Is 5-HTP the same as Tryptophan? No. The body takes Tryptophan and converts it to 5-HTP, which it then converts to Serotonin. Hydroxy Tryptophan may cause drowsiness and should not be taken while driving or operating machinery.

Try accupuncture from a legit doctor. It helps alot.
I used to have migraines on a regular basis. Doctor prescribed the Imitrex inhaler, and it worked quite well, but I hate taking medicine. So I bought a book on self-hypnosis, and it has done the trick for me! Sounds crazy, but it really has worked well. I think I bought it on Amazon. Good luck to you cuz I know how miserable they can make life.
Accupuncture. Also, but black-out blinds for your bedroom. Try getting 10 hours of sleep in a VERY dark, VERY quiet room. Or at least 8. Try switching caffeine for tea. Try not eating chocolate. There is no absolute answer. It's trial an error. My mom had them and she found out sugar was her trigger, even fruit.
I have the same problem and I am now 23, I really don't know what is really up with the headaches cause it seems as though every over the counter pill doesn't work for me...My professor told me once I feel the headache is coming on drink something with caffeine in it it will help alleviate some of the pain, she also said hypnosis and meditation helps. I haven't tried the hypnosis but I have tried to meditate and that helped some. I feel your pain and I wish all the best to you.
Stop the drugs...try alternative medicine....then sleep.
well i would suggest talking to your doctor about a perscription.

p.s. please answer my past 2 questions!
Well I always write down what I did that day before the migraine in my "migraine journal". i write down almost everything i did, Ex. I ran for 30 mins on a gravel road, there was a thunderstom, i ate tacos for lunch. It really helped me figgure out what was going on... I personaly cannot eat much chocolate (It sucks), rapid light (like lightning, strobe lights, candle light flickering), runing on uneven roads (like gravel), plus more set off my migraines... I also showed my journal to my doctor and he said that this was a good thing to do. I really hope this helps and if not i hope you find a good way to fight the devil that is migraines... Good luck, and have a good migraine free day!
check some other physiological things. misaligned teeth can cause migraines. some people get braces and the migraines go away. spinal misalignment can also cause migraines. muscles pulling in different directions to keep your head/back straight can be a major cause (that's what causes my migraines; 1-2/week).
there are also chemical causes of migraines. not always your diet but your environment. if your migraines are that bead see an internist or specialist. they can give you a more complete work over instead of just trying different meds (which are onbviously not working).
i have nothing against herbal remedies but it sounds like meds are not the answer for you. go to doctor and get a complete work over to find the problem.
I know some pressure points that I use for headaches. There is one on the bone pard of your nose between the eyes, press on both sides for a few seconds. You can repeat a few times.
There is also a trigger point on the fleshy point between you thumb and pointer finger. Press around until you feel a tinggle and hold for a few seconds.
I believe that medications only help you feel better, but do not always fix the problem. Some people find relief in elimating the toxins in their body. You can do this by eating natural food that dosen't contain pesticides and such.
I hope this helps and I hope you can find relief.
there's a herbal remedy which is supposed to be very good for migraines, it's called Butterbur (please see article for more details), & the product that contains this is called Migravoid. But u have 2 take it over a peroid of time to see real results.
Please also type in migraine in search, this is a gem of a site for advice for natural remedies.look through as not all are relevant but the Q&A at the end is very good.

I have no financial interest in the recommendation I'm about to make.

About two weeks ago, a customer came into my store and told me about his wife's severe, sicko, vomiting type migraines.

The two of them were staying in a hotel, and sure enough she was pale in bed, sick as a dog. A women that was with them offered her to use some Sinus Buster for MIGRAINES, but she turned her down saying she'd tried everything.

In response the other lady said she'd offered this to four other people and every time the result was the same...the migraine went away.

So the migraine sufferer decided to try it. Her husband told me her migraine disappeared instantly. In twenty minutes she was out the door. Several hours later while they were still out, her husband asked her how she was doing. She told him she was perfectly normal.

Sinus Buster makes a variety of sprays, including another one that is for headaches...that's not the one you want. Get the one for migraines.

Good luck!
