Which is the most effective?

Zoloft, Paxil, or Prozac? Which has the worst side effects? Which, in your opinion works the best? (I know everyone is different) Thanks!

Answer:
Those all have side effects. You may try looking into a product called Bliss, which is more alternative medicine. Read about it at the website below (once a the website, click on the blue information icon (i)).
You are better off with none of them. They all have side effects.
First of all antidepressants are serious medicine and something that should be discussed at length with your doctor, preferably a psychiatrist or other MD with a strong background in treating depression. Second each medication works differently which is where your doctor also plays a role by looking at your individual symptoms, overall health, etc. Third medication of this nature doesn't work overnight, it takes weeks to know if you are going to benefit but sometimes only hours to see if you are going to experience the side effects which are numerous. All that being said if you have been diagnosed as depressed then I am a firm believer in treatment, which should also include therapy. Depression is a horrible disease and until you have "been there" you can't begin to understand the devastating effect it has on your life, so avoid discussions with people that don't know. I have tried them all and never had any success with anything other than Paxil and in time it quit working (8 years) and my doctor and I are back to "square one" in an attempt to find something else. My heart goes out to you if you really are a victim of depression but it is treatable but stay close to your doc and research and learn all you can, your life may depend on it. I know mine did.
If you do choose to use one of named medication to treat your anxiety, it is best to do so under the strict supervision of your physician because many of these medications have side effects and all have to be prescribed.

Many people suffer every day from anxiety problems or panic attacks that can stop them from leading a normal life. If you feel that you have a problem with anxiety or panic attacks therapy, medication, or relaxation exercises can prove to be very effective in treating your problem. The symptoms of anxiety can constantly rule a person’s life and if they become serious it is very important to seek out professional help for your mental health.

They are all Serotonin uptake inhibitors. Unfortunately though the drug companies tell you each one is different from the other. They all have the same side effects when used for long periods of time. The side effect produced from these particular drugs that people mostly complain about is the sexual side effects and the withdrawal symptoms when discontinuing.

If interested in a natural Serotonin inhibitor then 5-Htp is a great one for anxiety and depression without the side effects. 50-100mg is the average dosage.

Sam-e and St. Johns Wort are also two other natural antidepressants which get great reviews but are not Serotonin inhibitors.
They all have serious dangers and side effects]

Worse, they are very addictive and almost impossible for some people to stop taking.
Try a Yahoo search for "side effects" + zoloft (OR paxil OR prozac) and see what you get.
