Has anyone heard that Vicks can help toe fungus?
Answer:
There appears to be a large body of anecdotal support for this treatment. There are no scientific studies, but, based on what I have heard, it is probably worth a try.
Read it in the Dr.column of the news paper. People swear that it really works!
I haven't heard that. I've only heard that vinegar can help, because it's acidic.
This actually makes alot of sense in that 1) Vicks has strong concentrations of eucalyptus, menthol and camphor in it, all of which are strongly antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral. 2) The fact that it is in a petrolatum (vaseline) base is not great from my perspective, but that will certainly serve to keep it on the toes/feet and not washed off by sweat. 3) Try tea tree oil too, as this works very well for nail fungus and other fungal infections (sores caused by candida yeast and jock itch, for example). As much as possible, wear sandals or nothing on your feet and avoid synthetic materials in your shoes, as heat, dark and dampness are prime conditions molds thrive and grow in and synthetic sneakers are probably the worst things you could be wearing for the condition you have.
I could touch upon the fact that without changing your diet and your blood quality, you're just treating symptoms, not cause, but it seems like lately all I've been saying to people is, "You need to change your diet...". Today, I'm kind of tired of that and not really willing to put the time or energy into the novel that issue seems to require (you can easily look up my other posts or do your own research on line, or e-mail me w/ any questions.).
Change your diet and alkalize your system, then you will not be nearly so susceptible to opportunistic molds and fungi.
yes. also, it works when you have a muscle ache... just put some vicks on and the pain goes away.
I've heard this. Don't know if it's true.
