What are some good ways to get to sleep without taking those over the counter sleep aides.?
Answer:
Attend to your sleep hygiene. That means no caffeine after 4 pm, no exercise within 2 hours of bedtime, settling on a regular bedtime and having a bedtime regimen which includes perhaps reading for 20 minutes until drowsy and then lights out. The bed is used for sleeping and sex only - no TV in the bedroom. Make sure your room is a comfortable temperature and that your pillow and bed covering are comfortable. If you cannot sleep get up after 20 minutes and do something quiet and boring and then retry in 30 min to one hour. If you have been having lots of problems then change up your bedroom- maybe make the bed up so that you sleep at the foot of the bed so things look different . What you do not want is to have the bed be associated as a place you cannot sleep. Hope this helps.
