Herbs are natural plants used as remedies. I believe too much St. John's Wort and a few others are dangerous.
herbs are plants that the main part that are used are the leaves. The ones from the garden centre are pretty safe.
Herbs are plants that usually have caustic oils that either give them flavor or smell, or medicinal properties.

Herbs are used in culinary, medicinal and sometimes spiritual uses.

For the most part, the herbs that you will come into contact with are safe.

If you don't know what it is, don't put it in your mouth, or smoke it.
Try a Yahoo search for herbs + safe + unsafe (OR dangerous) and see what you get.
There are so many herbs that can be used for alternative medicine, and in many different ways. You should always read about the plant to begin with. Not just one article or paragraph but many. You have to get more than one experience.because you never know if that one was 1 out of 10 or 9 out of 10. You see what I mean. Always read about the doseage of each of the plants. Some are safe when used in moderation, but can be deadly when abused. Make sure you read the suggestions and what not. The herb you may want to use can interact with a condition you previously had.

Sometimes you will see that only particular parts of the plant can be used, always be sure to find that out. While one part may be helpful, the others may be toxic.

Now as far as Safe and Unsafe herbs go, to make an entire list would take many, I mean many years.so many countries, history, etc.to go through.

There are many books in bookstores and libraries on herbalism, you might be interested in. Other keywords could be: Homeopathy, Alternative Medice, Natureopathic, Aeurveyic Medicine, Chinese Medice.those are just to name a few.
